Sydney: 21 Years Later – Ultimate Non-Fiction Travelogue and Memoir of Rediscovery

Embark on a beautifully nostalgic journey through one of the world’s most iconic coastal cities. Sydney: 21 Years Later by Jenny Hor is an intimate, evocative non-fiction travelogue that masterfully captures the passage of time, the fading lines of childhood memory, and the joy of reacquainting oneself with a beloved destination as a grown woman.

An 8-Day Photographic Exploration of the Harbour City

Back in 2004, Jenny Hor first set foot in Sydney as a wide-eyed, curious child. Over the decades that followed, those vivid childhood experiences slowly dissolved into vague fragments and distant echoes of the past. Exactly twenty-one years later, she returned. Stepping back onto the bustling avenues and sun-drenched shores as an adult, Jenny embarked on a brand-new journey of exploration to get properly reacquainted with the magnificent Harbour City.

This charming, narrative-driven travelogue chronologically logs her immersive 8-day experience. More than just a simple list of tourist destinations, it serves as a nostalgic bridge across time, storing a precious gallery of personal photographs contrasting the past with the present. Through thoughtful observations and local interactions, readers are invited to witness a beautiful story of personal reflection and urban rediscovery.

Jenny Hor

Based in Penang, Malaysia, Jenny Hor dabbles in the art of short story writing. She either locks herself in her room for a writing sprint or draws creative inspiration from conversations and observations. Her works appear in printed anthologies and online literary magazines, including Penang-based zine NutMag (Vol. 6-8) and Tapau: The Best of Malaysian Food Writing (2024). In 2024, she published her first short story collection, Bukit Bintang Happenings, under Working Desk Publishing. Aside from writing, Jenny likes exploring new places. She managed to self-publish her first travelogue, Sydney 21 Years Later, in 2025. Her biggest wish is to set her incomplete works free from the WIP jail.
